Stepart
FRANCE | Live & DJset
Stepart is one of those who build bridges between reggae and electronic music. Conscientious and perfectionist dub builder, he has long worn out his soles and his ears in the drum parties of the capital. Around 2005 he discovered the first dubstep productions. The genre has just arrived in France and Stepart is part of the few initiates who glimpse the extent of the possibilities that Dubstep offers. Above all it is the eclecticism of this style which attracts him, the possibilities offered by the mixture of the musical genres. It did not need more to Stepart to start to create its own dub.
Between Reggae, Dub, Dubstep, and Bass Music; Stepart leads us into a universe where melodies collide with the power of bass. Trained as a sound engineer, he works on his productions until perfection and multiplies the collaborations. We can find in his bin dubplates of Murray Man, Spraggy, Kenny Knotts, Shanti D, Pupa Jim, Mathew McAnuf, Soom T… played by several sound system and DJ like RootsTing, Jahspora, Dub-4, Stand High Patrol, O.B.F and Jah Shaka.
A true lover of the studio and musical experimentation, Stepart is no less comfortable on stage or in soundsystem sessions. In 2016, after several single and EP releases, he presented “Playground”, a very first tribute album to the deep dubstep of the 2000s released on Stand High records. In 2018 he signed a new EP on the label Eddy Larkin and put his music back in the heart of the club by using techno sounds. Since then he has been busy developing Hologram Records, his own label, with regular EP and single releases. The Parisian producer is an explorer of the worlds of bass. With his suitcases of house productions and dubplates, in DJ Set or Live Set, he has what it takes to shake up any dancefloor!
